Cómpeta Walking Festival

26th till 29th of September 2024, the 12th edition!

We hope you can join us this year again. The Cómpeta Walking Festival is the occasion to meet old and new walking friends.

We are pleased we can offer you another exciting programme of guided walks which you will find in the program below on this page.

Levels

We will have again 3 levels of walks (2 groups in each level) for which there are the following maximum criteria:

  • Level 1: maximum 10 km, 4 hours (excl. breaks), max. altitude difference 500 metres
    FULLY BOOKED

  • Level 2: maximum 15 km, 6 hours (excl. breaks), max. altitude difference 800 metres

  • Level 3: maximum 20 km, 8 hours (excl. breaks), max. altitude difference 1400 metres.

Bear in mind that there is not such a thing as an easy walk in a hilly/mountainous area like Cómpeta. You always have to deal with altitude differences, heat and several paths are not easy with loose stones. Walking 10 km in Cómpeta equals with 15 km in a flat area. In consultation with the guide a participant can change his/her level daily.

Each participant/canine friend who walked all 4 days (in either level) will receive a medal at the end of the festival!

Practical information: carpool, food and prices

We continue with our system of car-share on day 2 and 3 (level 3 only on day 3), for which the drivers get a discount of € 10,-, but we will also have a minibus available so that no cars will have to be overloaded. This year we will have a shuttle bus on day 1 for the safety of the participants to avoid 1,2 km on the crowded Torrox Road.
Johan’s coffeetable during the route will be there on all days for all levels.
This year we will have a paella lunch on the 29th of September after the last walk. You have the choice between an original paella (fish/meat), a fish paella or a vegetarian paella, all accompanied by various salads and a dessert afterwards.

The entry-prices are this year:

  • € 40,- p.p. for all 4 days,

  • € 10,- discount for drivers who can take in their car max. 3 other walkers on day 2 and 3,

  • € 15,- p.p. for the paella lunch on the terrace of hotel Balcón de Cómpeta on the 29th of September after the last walk (this price is only valid with pre-registration, if you want to book the paella lunch during the festival it will cost € 20,-). The paella-tickets will be numbered and will serve also as free lottery-tickets for the raffle which will be held before the delivery of the medals and the buffet.
