Our trek is perfect for anyone with good health and some walking experience.
You'll stay at our cozy pension Hadriano in Cómpeta for the first three nights, acclimatizing to the village and taking a small introductory walk if you'd like. Then on day 4, we start the trek with a beautiful trail through Canillas de Aceituno and Alcaucin to Ventas Zafarraya, where you'll spend the night in a Spanish hostal.
On day 5, we'll walk via the GR7 to Alfarnatejo, where you'll spend the next three nights in a hospitable Dutch couple's B&B, El Aguila Libre. The area around Alfarnatejo is known as the small Pyrenees, and you'll have fantastic walking opportunities.
During the trek, you're free to choose what and where to eat. At pension Hadriano, you can cook for yourself or head out to one of the many tapas bars or restaurants in the vicinity. Hostal Aqui te quiero ver has a bar/restaurant that won't break the bank. And in Alfarnatejo, you'll have the option of dining in one of the village's restaurants or enjoying a home-cooked meal from your hosts, Denise and Arend, at El Aguila Libre. Breakfast is included on days 6, 7, and 8.
The price of Є278 per person (minimum 2 persons) includes all overnight stays in accommodations with private bathrooms, breakfast on days 6, 7, and 8, local transfers, luggage transport from Cómpeta to Ventas Zafarraya and then to Alfarnatejo, walking directions (with GPS markings) and maps. Not included in the price are transportation to Cómpeta bus stop from abroad, return journey abroad from Alfarnatejo or Colmenar bus stop, and other meals.
To get to the starting point of Cómpeta, we recommend buying a return ticket to Málaga airport, where many cheap flights are available.
A bus leaves the airport every half hour to the central bus station of Málaga. From there, a bus departs to Cómpeta (Loymer bus) on weekdays at 11.30, 13.15, and 18.30 hours, on Saturday at 13.15 and 18.30 pm, and on Sunday at 10.30 and 20.15 hours. For the return journey, a bus departs from Colmenar daily to Málaga at 7.15, 8.00, 9.15, 10.15, 14.15, 16.15, and 18.45 hours.
