Walking Holiday Spain
In autumn, winter, and spring the climate is perfect for a walking holiday in Spain (Andalucia) in the beautiful countryside around Cómpeta (usually 10º to 15ºC higher than Great Britain and the Netherlands). Cómpeta is an ideal starting point for a varied walking holiday in the national park called Parque Natural de las Sierras Almijara y Tejeda, as it lies immediately adjacent to the national park. So come see us, to increase your fitness and de-stress - Walk Spain!
Several walks from our most popular walking package in Cómpeta start directly from your doorstep. For other walks, we take you by Landrover deep into the national park, so you won’t have to walk the same stretch twice. We know the area thoroughly and will show you the best spots and nicest routes for an unforgettable walking holiday in Spain.
You walk in a rugged mountainous area in Andalucia where some climbing and descending is required but where you can enjoy unforgettable views as well. If the view is clear, you can see as far as Africa (the Rif mountains in Morocco) and Gibraltar in the south and west and the Sierra Nevada in the east.
Spanjeanders offers a range of different walking holidays in Spain: 2 different 8 day walking packages around Competa, a day walk climb La Maroma, a 2 day trek to Jatar, an 8 day trek in the Sierra Nevada with climbs on the highest mountains Mulhacen and Veleta (only in July and August), an 8 day trek from Cómpeta to Granada, an 8 day trek from Cómpeta to Alfarnatejo and an 8 day guided mule trek in the Almijara Mountains. Please browse the list below for detailed information on all the Walk Spain walks we offer.

Rules of these mountains:
Six months a year (from May to October) it hardly ever rains; everything is then cork dry.
1) During the other months, there can be occasional rainfall, but the sun will dry everything soon after, so never throw away cigarette ends on your walks and never make a fire in the national park.
2) The weather in the mountains can change quickly. Before you know it, a clear day may become a walk in the clouds and visibility will be poor. So don’t go alone, especially not on the higher walks. Always take a compass, a good map, and extra (waterproof) clothing with you.
3) Always take abundant drinking water and sun protection with you.
4) Always wear good walking shoes and long pants. The latter offer protection against shrubs along the paths, insects, and the occasional adder you may encounter.
